Leah lost 131 pounds

Transformation of the Day: Leah lost 131 pounds. She had gotten into the habit of only eating once a day. When she did eat, it was fast food and junk food. She found success by actually eating lots of whole, healthy food and carb cycling. Running and lifting weights are also part of her effective routine.

What was your motivation?
I found my motivation when my oldest child, who was five years old (currently 12 yrs old.), called my name while I was sitting down cleaning in the next room. I could not get up off of the floor in a timely manner. I thought about the worst-case scenario, but all she wanted me to see was her dress up! I knew it was time to change.

What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Whew! There have been ALOT of times that I wanted to give up! Every single time that happens, there is always something around my house (like old inspirational statements that I plastered on the wall in the beginning) that reminds me, “LEAH! GET UP AND LET’S GO!”

How did you change your eating habits?
I actually started eating more. Before, I would literally only eat once a day, if that. When I did eat, I was eating a lot of fast food and chips. Now I am carb cycling, and I eat six properly portioned meals a day.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I LOVE to run! I run 20 min before I lift weights. I work out five days a week.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 298 pounds, and now I weigh 167 pounds.

What is your height?
I am 4’11”.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started on Thanksgiving 2013. I got down to 139 pounds, and then I had my second child. In 2017 and got back up to 215 pounds as my postpartum weight. Now I weigh 167 pounds.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, it is not. But I 10000000% respect those that have any procedure done.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
If my mental health ain’t up to par, my physical fitness won’t be worth anything.

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Have a tribe that fully supports you! Don’t listen to the constant criticism from those “close to you” because chances are, they are speaking from a low place. Fitness is definitely a journey of elevation.
